Arrive in Shanghai and check-in Shanghai Days Hotel on one’s own arrangement. Visit the national key lab for disaster prevention in civil engineering at Tongji university in the afternoon. Overnight at Shanghai Days Hotel.

Shanghai / Suzhou / Shanghai (AB, L, D)
Leave Shanghai Days Hotel at 08:30am for Suzhou. Visit the Humble Administrator Graden which is one of the four most famous gardens in China and the Fisherman Garden. Afterwards, visit the silk spinning factory. Transfer back to Shanghai in the evening.

Take a morning flight to Guilin, upon arrival, visit the extraordinary underground caverns - Reed Flute Cave and ascend Fubo Hill for a superb view of this beautiful town. Then visit Elephant Trunk Hill which hence its name because the rock hill with a hole in gives the rock itself the appearance of an elephant sipping water with its trunk.

After breakfast, take a Li River cruise to Yangshuo and drift gently through enchanting landscapes that have inspired some of the most famous Chinese poetry and paintings. Spend the afternoon browsing through Yangshuo's antique and craft stall and rural field. Overnight at Yangshuo.

After breakfast, transfer to Guilin airport and take a flight to Xian. Upon arrival, visit the Old City Wall, the most complete city wall that has survived in China. Then visit the well-preserved Big Wild Goose Pagoda, which is followed by the field trip to review geological features (ground fissures) of Xian City, and it will take 3 hours with the assistance of the Shaanxi Earthquake Administration. Enjoy a traditional Dumpling Banquet in the evening.

The highlight today is to go to the Terra-cotta Warriors and Horses Museum, the home of more than 6000 life-size terra-cotta warriors and horses excavated from the tomb of the first emperor of the Qin Dynasty. After lunch, visit Shaanxi Provincial Museum which considers it an obligation to be a showcase of ancient civilizations.

Transfer to airport and fly to Beijing. Upon arrival, transfer to Beijing Jiuhua Spa & Resort Hotel. Tour ends.

Then you will proceed to visit the well-preserved Big Wild Goose Pagoda, which is followed by the field trip to review the geological features of Xian, and it will take 3 hours with the assistance of Shaanxi Earthquake Administration. You will enjoy a welcome Dumpling Banquet in the evening.
Oct 19: Sun Xian / Beijing(AB, L,)

Upon arrival, visit the Yu Garden, one of the well-known classical gardens with a Southern style, Jade Buddha Temple which got its name from the two jade statues of Sakyamuni. Stroll on the Bund, famous for its graceful European style buildings and the stunning views of the modern district of Pudong.
Oct 23: Thu Shanghai / Departure (AB)
After breakfast, tour ends.

Notes:

  1. The tour fee includes inter-city transportation, regular meals, hotel (three-star or above) accommodations, admission fees and the English-speaking tour guide service.
  2. Please arrange the continuing flight from the tour end city by yourself.
  3. The detailed tour information of routes, flight and hotels will be available by the end of August 2008 on the website.
  4. If no roommate name is indicated, your room will be arranged as a single room during the tour.
  5. The Secretariat will reserve the right to raise the prices or cancel any of the above tour routes, if attendees are fewer than 10 persons. In that case, the notification will be sent to you as soon as possible and the tour fee will be fully refunded.
