S09 Earthquake Engineering Research and Practices in Seasonally Frozen and Permafrost Conditions

Description:

Many areas of the broad cold regions including Alaska and Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, among others, are under the influence of strong seismic activities. With the development of natural resources in these areas, seismic issues have emerged as one of the dominant factors for civil infrastructure design. This special session is intended to provide a forum for researchers and practitioners to discuss earthquake engineering research advancements and designs for civil engineering in cold regions. Papers dealing with fundamental, analytical, or experimental research on the seismic performance of civil structures, analysis and design of civil structures considering cold regions environments, and understanding the influence of seasonally frozen ground /permafrost on the observed ground motions, are welcome for this session.
