S17-01 E-Defense Steel - Full-Scale Shake Table Tests and Analyses on Conventional, Value-Added, and Innovative Multi-Story Steel Buildings

Description:
This session invites papers that describe results of full-scale tests, results of member and sub-assemblage tests that support the full-scale tests, and analytical simulations carried out as part of the E-Defense Steel initiative. Three types of steel frames, i.e., a conventional steel moment frame, a value-added steel frame, either passively controlled or base-isolated, and innovative steel frames, are being chosen as target structures for investigation. This session also will announce the results of the “2007 E-Defense Blind Analysis Contest”, in which analytical predictions were performed for the collapse behavior of the full-scale steel moment frame. The contest winners will be honored during the session, and major results submitted to the contest are examined.
