S17-03 International Collaboration - Experiences and Challenges for Sharing Large-Scale Testing Facilities and Sharing and Disseminating Experimental Information

Description:
Large-scale testing is crucial component for the advancement of earthquake engineering but requires significant human and material resources. This leads us to the critical need and eventual benefit of sharing large-scale testing facilities and sharing and dissemination of the obtained data. In recent years, large-scale testing facilities have been developed around the world, including those built by NEES and E-Defense. Attempts to develop effective data repository systems on a network basis are also notable. In this session, such recent developments and collaborative efforts are highlighted; their experiences are discussed; and current difficulties and challenges ahead for achieving more versatile and effective applications are outlined.
