S22 Information Networking on "Implementation Technology" for Earthquake Disaster Reduction - with a framework from the Disaster Reduction Hyperbase (DRH) Initiative
Description:
This session is focused on information networking for earthquake disaster reduction especially for dissemination of appropriate technology and knowledge. The session is designed to help solving a situation that we are forced to see the reality of gigantic loss form earthquakes every year despite tremendous technological developments for disaster reduction.
A critical device we need is good mechanism of implementation and a database of good technology and knowledge. The session will discuss the issue with an aid of the framework of on-going Disaster Reduction Hyperbase (DRH) initiative. The key role of DRH is to establish a well-designed web-based facility for dissemination of appropriate technology and knowledge. It highlights an innovative concept of "implementation technology" comprising i) implementation oriented technology, ii) process technology, and iii) transferable indigenous knowledge.
The proposed session will be a forum where leading researchers and NGO leaders participating in the DRH initiative as well as those WCEE participants who share the concept will discuss the issue for conceptual enhancement as well as for clarification of effective future actions.
